Now, when I say E/R I do not mean the incredibly popular medical drama about a Chicago Emergency Room starring George Clooney. Rather I mean the barely remembered short lived medical comedy about a Chicago Emergency Room featuring... well, George Clooney.

    E/R was a hospital sitcom starring Elliot Gould with George Clooney in a supporting role. Back before he was Mr. Bigshot, George Clooney had roles on just about every sitcom around (Facts Of Life, Roseanne, E/R...). Well on the sitcom E/R George was a young inexperienced doctor named Ace. He played the trainee, not the boss.

    Aside from George Clooney being on another show named E/R, the other largely noteworthy thing about this show was a one time crossover it made with The Jeffersons. It turned out that Nurse Julie Williams, a regular on E/R, was a relative of the Jeffersons. George Jefferson made an appearance on E/R if I recall correctly because of his concern for where Nurse Julie was working and also because of some minor medical need. It gave George a chance to butt heads with the show's receptionist Maria much like he did on his own show with Florence, the Jefferson's maid. By the end of the show, he saw she was okay and had a chance to see the work that went on. I'm guessing this was an attempt to draw more viewers to E/R by getting viewers of The Jeffersons to watch, although I don't recall any big promotional push for this crossover.

    It has been awhile since I saw this episode of E/R and so my description of it is just as vague as my memory of it. But it did happen. If you have any better info on this crossover, feel free to drop me a line and let me know.
